Hyrule Historia

In on Saturday 25 August 2012

So I was at Amazon pre-ordering the Kirby Dream Collection when I was shown a link to Hyrule Historia.  Curious, I clicked through.  It seems that Dark Horse, of all people, is bringing us an English version of this 25th Anniversary text.  Amazon has a release date of January 29th with a current selling price of 21 USD, which is $14 off of the suggested retail price.  More news as it becomes available.  In the meantime, here’s the link:

Alright thanks for the address. I sent a message. I also once tried my hand in fan fiction! Nothing came of it though. For me, LA and MM are my two favorite Zelda games indeed, but they’re also my two favorite games overall.

Just spent a couple minutes trying to add contact info to my account and am so far stymied.  I’ll have to Google it later…or see if I still have Nexus’ email and ask him.  At any rate, you can reach me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you have any questions or comments.  I honestly have not played any fan hacks since the late ‘90s, shortly after I discovered that emulation existed.  All the ones I played were terrible and I gave up on the medium entirely, so I’m sad to say I’ve most likely missed out on quite a number of quality works.  I tend not to have a “most favorite” list for things, but if I had to pick my top ten games of all time ever then Link’s Awakening would be in there.  It was the first complete section of the Zelda fan site I ran before joining this one, and frequently swaps places with Majora’s Mask for favorite Zelda game.  I dabbled in fan fiction for it before that was even a thing (nothing completed or, thankfully, still in existence).  I don’t know if your stopping point is technical or emotional, but, honestly, I’d say that if this game inspires you to create your own version, then you should follow your dream.

I tried clicking on usernames but they always took me to a blank page whether I was logged in or not, but I am so glad my thanks were indeed seen! So many times I’ve tried contacting folks whether it was to thank them, encourage them or ask them something I thought was important, but it ended up being like pouring my heart out to the wind. It makes me really wish I knew for certain that I’d continue my hack, but I have no motivation for now; I haven’t had any for a few months. I completed one dungeon that people got to play, and then I completed two more, but it looks like no one will ever see them fully. I wish I knew what to do; Link’s Awakening is either my first-or-second-favorite game ever and I had dreamed for years of being able to make my own version of it. It hurts, but I don’t know what I can do about it. Have you ever played Hard Awakening by Jeville? I thought it was fantastic and it somewhat inspired me.

Wow, do we not have email addresses on here?  My next surprise is that people are still coming here…perhaps we should tidy the place up.  Assuming either Nexus or myself have enough free time to do so.  Anyway, glad to hear my maps were useful to you!

Hi, I wanted to contact the site admin, or at least whomever created the maps for Link’s Awakening, but I cannot seem to find any way to contact these folks so I guess I’ll just post here. I am creating a Link’s Awakening hack, and I find the maps hosted on this site to be of extreme use since they show the locations of enemies and other sprites/objects. I’m not done with my hack, nor am I certain it’ll ever be released, but I just wanted the creator(s) to know I’ve been using them and that they’ve been a big help, and I wanted to give my thanks. If you wish to contact me back, I am also Tetrahedrus on Romhacking.net, and I have a thread about my hack entitled “Currently untitled Link’s Awakening hack.” Thanks guys.
